Not Your Average Company Picnic

Yesterday was Matt's company picnic. Normally you kind of dread these things, but Merrill Lynch held it at Faulkner's Ranch here in KC and it was like heaven for our almost two year old little boy. He had an awesome time, except when we tried to get him to eat lunch. Who could be bothered with a hot dog when there was so much to see and do?!

There was a barrel train ride.

We all three went on a hayrack ride. (Matt beefed up his allergy meds for this entire adventure.)

The biggest thrill of all was that Luke rode a "tony" twice. He loved it and has been talking about his "tonies" all day. The names of the ponies he rode were "Colorado" and "Hippy" and he has remembered them both.

We played a bunch on the western-themed playground.
Matt and Luke practiced their jack-o-lantern faces.

There was even a little "train" that we rode a couple of times.

Luke, of course, loved the animals too. They had sheep, goats, a llama, a buffalo, rabbits, etc.

It was a fabulous, chilly fall day and Faulkner's Ranch is a wonderful family-owned place. I'm already trying to plan my next trip back with Luke to the "pumpkin farm" because we all loved it so much!
