Snow Daze

Snowmaggedon. Snowpocalypse. My personal favorite, The Blizzard of Oz. Whatever you want to call it, we have had a crazy amount of snow here in the last week. Something like 12 inches last Tuesday and then another 8 or so on Monday night and Tuesday. The kids have been out of school for many days. Matt even worked from home last Thursday and then again Tuesday. So, here are some pics to document our fun in the snow! And, we're still having it...unlike our typical KC snows, this is sticking around. I keep trying to fit all the snow activities into a day or two and then realize, it's not going anywhere anytime soon!

I am ready for this pile - gloves, boots, coats, snow pants, etc. -  to go away. It just moves from the garage door, to the back door, to the front door depending on what activity we've most recently completed.
Last Friday we went sledding with some good friends. Grace did not like it at all - "I go too fast. It's scary!" - so we were very lucky that Gigi was happy to watch her and lived just a couple of blocks from where we were. Grace was much happier there and that allowed Luke and me to have a ball sledding together! It was one of those afternoons that really took me back to my own childhood. It brought back lots of memories of those great times sledding at College Hill Park with friends and family. Luke had a rough start with a collision on a saucer sled, but he got his mojo back and loved every minute of it. He continued to eat more snow than any other kid I've ever seen too...at the end of almost every sledding run he would grab a hunk of snow and eat it on his way back up the hill.
An older kid brought this snow bike thing and let the little kids try it! See another post for some videos...
Daddy stopped by after work for a couple of trips down the hill. We grabbed Grace after we finished sledding and finished the fun day with pizza with our friends.

This was snowfall number two. Heavy, wet and beautiful, though we actually have quite a bit of tree damage from this one.

Snowman success!
We had fun building these and it's very fun driving around seeing other people's snow creations too. There are two igloos on Gigi's street and Luke is very jealous of them!
