More Holiday Fun

Our event-filled holiday weekend continued as we headed to the zoo on the 5th. It's possible we were there with half of Kansas City, thanks to a combo of it being a holiday weekend and unseasonably nice weather.
We had great close-up views of the elephants. Well, we thought they were great until one of them flung mud all over us as he was coating himself. My mom and sister took the worst hits and had mud splatters all over them. We haven't had the best luck with animal behavior at zoos this summer.
We all loved the sky ride over Africa and seeing all of the lions up very close.
Emmy and Peggy joined us too! The kids always love spending time with them.
Starting to get a little worn out, so riding the tram back from Africa.
I was by myself in a seat on the train and turned around to take a pic of everyone else. It cracked me up to see our adult to child ratio on this day at the zoo. I think I'm so used to being there with other moms, all with multiple kids, that it was hard to believe I had all this awesome help and attention for my two kids!
We pretty much take these same two pics every time we visit...
We didn't stop there...we all hit the Royals game that night!
We had lots of fun exploring all the great stuff for kids in the outfield before the game started.

Boys in blue in our wonderful seats
Aunt Becca treated the kids to something of their choice. Grace chose cotton candy and Luke picked a funnel cake. Grace tried to help Buckle rally the Royals in the 9th, they made a comeback, but unfortunately couldn't grab the victory!
