Aspen - Part Three

Our last day was spent relaxing and enjoying another gorgeous day in the mountains. After our morning run we all walked to Hickory House for a delicious breakfast. Then we loaded up to find a "beach" that friends recommended to us. As you can see from the pictures, it was beautiful there. It was a little chilly when we first got there, but warmed up quickly.
We all had several really fun hours exploring, wading, playing in the sand (Grace was making a birthday cake, she told us), looking for and trying to catch little fish, sunbathing, having a picnic, and maybe even enjoying a little wine.
Luke made a friend who had an innertube. He had a blast playing with him!

Thank you friends for the great suggestion...we loved the Aspen beach!

All of us before dinner the last night
Luke fell asleep in the car on our way to dinner at Woody Creek Tavern. He was exhausted and didn't want to wake up. He got a second wind though, of course. Here he is holding Biff, the restaurant's cat.

After dinner we made one last stop downtown. One last visit to Paradise Bakery for ice cream and one last stop at the park and the fountains. These three pics are of the kids "dancing" to the string quartet playing outside the bakery. G loved hearing the "violins".

We had such a wonderful trip and such a great time together. The kids were great, even on the long drive back home to Kansas! Thanks again D family for your hospitality and to mom and dad for inviting us! Nothing better than summer in Colorado...
