I'm serving on the Board of the Junior League this year and it's a big year for us as we celebrate our 100th anniversary. Being on the Board means lots of meetings, but also getting invited to some very cool events, like this one. In celebration of our 100th the JL donated $1 million to the Kansas City Zoo as part of the funding to bring penguins to KC. We got to attend the pre-opening party on the penguin plaza!
While we waited outside for the ribbon cutting we got to visit with "Icecube" aka the "giant penguin". Grace was terrified and kept an eye out for Icecube all night.
Being at the zoo at night, awesome. Free carousel rides. Extra exciting.
And the exhibit opens!
Here we are with the cold water penguin exhibit which is named for the Junior League.
It is a really well done exhibit, with lots of great viewing areas and lots of penguins. We've already been back to see them again and it is so entertaining!
One last carousel ride with Aunt Becca to end our fun evening!
